Tomorrow is ANZAC Day; it is said to be Australia’s most important national occasion.  It is celebrated every year on the 25th of April – when soldiers from Australian and New Zealand landed at Gallipoli, Turkey during World War I under horrendous enemy fire.  This ended in defeat for the ANZACs.  The day has changed to honor all Australians and New Zealanders who have been sacrificed in all wars. A ‘traditional’ ANZAC day commences with a ‘gunfire’ breakfast (black coffee and rum) which is followed by a solemn Dawn Service.  Most towns and cities will have former and current soldiers marching and then many head to the pub to drink and drink and tell the same stories they told the year before.  Millions of people in Australia and New Zealand will take part in ANZAC Day services.
