We met this cute little spider yesterday.
Australia has over 2,400 species of spiders. Less than 50 of them are harmful to humans. The actual number of people who died from spider bites in Australia since 1979 is zero. So really, it is no use stressing about getting bitten by a spider when you are surrounded by thousands of crocodiles who gladly will have you for dinner tonight.
Tomorrow is ANZAC Day; it is said to be Australia’s most important national occasion. It is celebrated every year on the 25th of April – when soldiers from Australian and New Zealand landed at Gallipoli, Turkey during World War I under horrendous enemy fire. This ended in defeat for the ANZACs. The day has changed to honor all Australians and New Zealanders who have been sacrificed in all wars. A ‘traditional’ ANZAC day commences with a ‘gunfire’ breakfast (black coffee and rum) which is followed by a solemn Dawn Service. Most towns and cities will have former and current soldiers marching and then many head to the pub to drink and drink and tell the same stories they told the year before. Millions of people in Australia and New Zealand will take part in ANZAC Day services.
Looks like we might have somewhere to live. After a long weekend of house hunting we finally found what we were looking for. Best of all, we don’t have to attached balloons to be able to see the ocean. The view from our balcony is fantastic.
6 weeks before we can move in. Please let the time move a bit faster.
Fantastic!! H&M has confirmed that they will open in Australian next year!! Since I’m a big fan of the Swedish retail store I’m very excited about finally have H&M here in OZ!!!! H&M haven’t confirm were their first store will be located but rumor says Melbourne or even Sydney. Hopefully we will get one in Perth 2015 but I guess Darwin is completely out of the picture 😦
